Meet the Author and the inspiration

- Nakida S. Henderson, Author -
Nakida Henderson, born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, is a Master's-level trauma therapist and proud children's book author. After earning her master's degree in criminology from IUP, she moved to Harrisburg, PA, to pursue a career with the criminal justice system. However, her journey took a different path as she embraced motherhood, which became her greatest inspiration. Nakida's debut children's book is more than just a story— it's a meaningful tool for parents and children alike. She understands that many kids struggle with taking showers and maintaining proper hygiene, whether due to trauma, stubbornness, or simple resistance. Her book was created to encourage little ones and inspire them
to embrace cleanliness in a fun, relatable way. The story was inspired by her son, Tre, who has been the driving force
behind many of Nakida’s creative ventures, including TreSoaps; a shea butter soap business they started together 10 years ago. Her passion for children, mental health, and storytelling shines through in her work.
With a deep commitment to faith and God's vision, Nakida hopes to inspire families to navigate these everyday challenges with love, patience, and creativity. When she’s not writing or working as a trauma therapist, she enjoys spending time with her son, who continues to be her greatest motivation.

- William D. Harden III (Tre), Inspiration -
Tre, my 9-year-old son, is the heart and inspiration behind this book. We started a shea butter soap business, TreSoaps, 10 years ago.
Tre’s strong dislike for showers sparked the idea for this story.
It’s written not only to encourage him but to help other kids who feel the same way discover the fun and importance of hygiene.
